Historic House Trust

Latimer House Egg HuntThe Historic House Trust is a not-for-profit organization operating in tandem with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to help preserve the 22 historic house museums in city parks. The Trust works with Parks and the nonprofit boards of each house to restore, interpret, and promote the sites, which span 350 years of New York City life. From modest farmers’ cottages to grand mansions, the sites in the Trust’s collection are located in all five boroughs and chronicle a wide range of cultural, historical, and architectural aspects of New York City.

Dyckman Farmhouse MuseumAs the Trust embarked on its 20th Anniversary, it decided to celebrate not only its accomplishments but also look to the organization’s future by establishing an endowment. Income from the endowment will enable the Trust to increase its services to the individual house museums and provide support for its dedicated staff, who consult on restoration projects, museum exhibitions, and education programs; assist with fundraising and promotion; and provide training opportunities for the house staff and board members.

As the Trust began to explore the possibility of larger gifts that would ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization, they looked to Raybin Associates. With Raybin’s assistance, the Trust was able to assess the feasibility of their campaign and establish a realistic timeline to achieve their goal.
